Hair studio & three treatment rooms · Est. 2014

Somewhere to put the day down.

A hair studio with three treatment rooms behind it, in a converted brick building off a Woolloongabba laneway. Book both in one visit, or come only for the quiet — nobody minds either.

The house behind the salon

Robes and a quiet room, with nobody moving you along.

Solace & Steam began in 2014 as a single treatment room at the back of a Woolloongabba hair studio. The rooms came first; the rest of the salon grew around them, in a converted brick building off a laneway most people need to be told about once.

The rooms

Three ways to spend an afternoon

Everything below can be paired with a cut or colour in the same visit — the diary is built to allow it.

01

Bodywork

Deep tissue, aromatherapy or a simple back and shoulder. Sixty or ninety minutes, in a room with the phone left at the door.

02

Skin

A consultation first, then a facial built around what your skin is actually doing that week rather than a set routine.

03

The long visit

Three hours: hair, one treatment, and a slow lunch in between. Booked as a single appointment so nothing is rushed.

Around the studio

Small rooms, kept simple

Photographed as they are, nothing staged for the visit.

Every visit

The quiet room

Free before and after any treatment over an hour, for as long as it is free.

The robes

Robes and slippers, laundered here rather than hired in.

The foils

Colour prep happens quietly, sectioned rather than rushed — the reason a full colour takes the time it does.

What people say after

Left after a visit

In their own words

“I went in for a cut and ended up in the quiet room with a pot of tea because my next chair wasn’t free. Nobody rushed me back out.”

Talia M.
EAST BRISBANE

“The three-hour visit is not an easy thing to book off work for, but it is exactly what it says: hair, one treatment, lunch, and nobody checking the clock.”

Reuben P.
COORPAROO

“Robes were already out and the room was quiet the second the door closed, which after a few rushed salons was a relief.”

Ines D.
HIGHGATE HILL

Fifteen minutes of slack is built into every booking.

Pair any treatment with a salon service in the same visit and take a little off the total.
