Services & fees

What we do, and exactly what it costs.

Every fee below is a real published fee in dollars, including GST, paid by you directly and never taken as commission.

General advice only. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Consider whether it is appropriate for you, and read any Product Disclosure Statement, before acting on it.

Four pieces of work we are asked for most.

A retired couple walking along the Brisbane River at dusk

Retirement income planning

What you can sustainably spend, year by year, against realistic assumptions and some worse ones. Includes when to stop work and how an account-based pension and the Age Pension fit together.

Reading glasses and a closed folder on a desk

Super review and consolidation

We find every account you have and check each for fees, investment options and the insurance inside it before anything is combined. Sometimes the right answer is to leave one where it is.

An adult daughter and her elderly mother talking on a verandah

Age Pension and aged care

How the income and assets tests treat your situation, and what residential aged care costs, explained before a decision has to be made in a hurry.

Three generations of a family around a dining table

Estate planning, with your solicitor

Binding death benefit nominations, gifting and the family conversation, usually with the next generation in the room. The will itself is your solicitor’s work; we make sure the money side matches it.

Questions

Asked before the first meeting.

What does advice cost?

The first meeting is free. A written Statement of Advice is a fixed fee of $3,300 to $5,500 depending on complexity, agreed before we start. Ongoing planning is a flat yearly fee from $4,400. All fees include GST.

Why fee-only, and not a percentage?

Because one per cent a year does not feel like much next to a balance, but over a twenty-year retirement it adds up to a large sum. A flat fee costs the same whatever the market does, and we show you both side by side.

What should I bring?

Nothing for the first meeting except your questions. If you go ahead, we will ask for recent super statements and a rough list of what you own and owe.

Can you tell me what the market will do?

No, and nobody honestly can. Investments can fall as well as rise. We plan for a range of outcomes, including poor ones, so the plan still works if returns disappoint.

Start with the free hour.
