The house

Two hours that belong to you.

A hair studio in a converted brick building off a Woolloongabba laneway, with three treatment rooms behind it. Started as one room in 2014; the rest grew around it.

How it started

One treatment room, at the back of a hair studio, in 2014.

Solace & Steam began as a single treatment room behind a Woolloongabba hair studio. The rooms came first — bodywork, then skin — and the hair side of the business grew to match, rather than the other way round.

Nobody here is paid on commission, hair or treatments. Fifteen minutes of slack is built into every booking, so nothing overruns onto the next person. Robes and a quiet room come with every treatment over an hour, and nobody is moved along.

House rules

Four things we keep to

Not rules for you. Rules for us.

01

Quiet is the default

Conversation if you want it, silence if you do not. Say nothing and we will take the hint kindly.

02

No upselling, ever

Nobody here works on commission. If a treatment is not right for you we will say so and book you something cheaper instead.

03

Time is generous

Every appointment carries fifteen minutes of slack. It is why we run on time and why you are never hurried out.

04

A note, if you want it

What we did and what to do at home — written down, not just said, if you want it.

The rooms downstairs

Four spaces, behind the chairs

No keys, no booking sheet, no minimum spend. Sit where you like.

The Quiet Room

Robes, tea, and nowhere you need to be. Free before and after any treatment over an hour.

The Bodywork Room

Deep tissue, aromatherapy or a simple back and shoulder — the phone stays at the door.

The Skin Room

A proper consultation first, then a facial built around what your skin is doing that week.

The Salon

Cut, colour and finish, with the same generous slot timing as the rooms.

The studio in numbers

Small on purpose

These facts have not changed since we opened and we intend to keep it that way.
