You can see where every dollar goes, before you give the next one.
A food pantry, family grants and a youth space, run from one building on the river at Yeronga by six staff and around ninety volunteers. No referral needed for any of it.
A choice-based pantry three mornings a week, plus a hot meal every Wednesday. No vouchers, no referral required.
02
Family grants
Small grants for the costs that tip a bad month into a crisis — school shoes, a power bill, a bond shortfall. Applied for in one sitting.
03
The youth space
Open four evenings a week for young people aged eleven to eighteen. Free, warm, and staffed by people who know their names.
Why we publish the split
A dollar sounds like it disappears. We think you should watch it go.
01
Every dollar traced — Our annual accounts are lodged with the ACNC and sit on the public Charity Register, so what goes to the programs and what runs the building is there for anyone to read.
02
No referral needed — Nobody has to prove they deserve help before we give it. If you’re local and need it, that’s the whole test.
03
Grants checked, not gut-felt — Every family grant is checked by two trustees against the same written criteria, so who you ask never changes what you get.
How it works
Four steps, and the first one is just turning up.
STEP 1
Come in or ring
During opening hours, no referral or paperwork needed to start.
STEP 2
Tell us what’s going on
Ten minutes with a staff member to work out which service actually helps.
STEP 3
We help, or point you on
Straight to the pantry or a conversation, or a short form if it’s a family grant.
STEP 4
Grants go to committee
Two trustees check every application against the same criteria, usually within a fortnight.
Nobody asked us to prove how bad things had got. We filled in one form, and a fortnight later my daughter had new school shoes.
