Our work

What we run, and exactly how it’s funded.

Every figure on this page comes from our annual accounts, examined independently each year and published in full.

Riverbank Trust is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ABN XX XXX XXX XXX) and is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Four programs, one building.

A volunteer arranging loose vegetables into a basket on a pantry shelf

Food relief

A choice-based pantry, three mornings a week, plus a hot meal every Wednesday for anyone who wants company as well as food. No vouchers, no referral.

A parent and a child trying on new school shoes together on a verandah

Family grants

Small grants for the costs that tip a bad month into a crisis — school shoes, a power bill, a bond shortfall. Three rounds a year; the application takes one sitting.

A staff member and a visitor talking quietly across a small table

Advice and referral

A confidential conversation to work out what would actually help, and a direct introduction to the right service if it isn’t one of ours.

Two teenagers and a youth worker planting seedlings in a school garden bed

The youth space

Open four evenings a week for young people aged eleven to eighteen. Free, warm, and staffed by people who know their names.

Questions

Asked at the door and on the phone.

How do family grants work?

We run three grant rounds a year. Each application is checked by two trustees against the same written criteria, and most people hear back within a fortnight. There is no cost to apply and no guaranteed outcome — we fund what each round’s budget allows.

Do I need a referral for the pantry or the youth space?

No. Both are open access — no referral, no means test, no appointment. Just come during opening hours.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. Riverbank Trust is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient, and donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. You will get a receipt by email.

Where does the money actually go?

Most of it goes to the three programs; the rest covers the building, insurance and administration. The exact split is in our annual accounts, lodged with the ACNC and public on the Charity Register every year.
